UNC Awarded $3.9-million Grant to Study Perimenopausal-onset Anhedonia and Psychosis with Simultaneous PET-MR

Gabriel Dichter (UNC Psychiatry), Crystal Schiller (UNC Psychiatry), and David Lalush (Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering) have been awarded a 5-year $3.9-million grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to use simultaneous positron emission tomography and functional magnetic resonance imaging (PET-MR) to examine the effects of estradiol on reward circuitry functioning in a transdiagnostic sample of women with perimenopausal-onset anhedonia and psychosis.

Shoenbill, Team Publish Study on Telehealth Benefits in Tobacco Treatment for Inpatient Populations

Kim Shoenbill, MD, PhD, at UNC Family Medicine and colleagues published the study "An Analysis of Inpatient Tobacco Use Treatment Transition to Telehealth" in Nicotine & Tobacco Research. The study provides the first analysis of inpatient tobacco use treatment during the transition to telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic. It finds that telehealth services for inpatient populations resulted in a larger scope of patients reached and expanded participation in cessation counseling.
