Due to inclement weather, our on-site Food & Essentials Drive for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC will now move inside to the concourse between the Neurosciences and Cancer Hospital lobbies Friday, Oct. 26.

Manning Drive will be closed to through traffic the weekends of Nov. 9-12 for the removal of the pedestrian bridge connecting the Cardinal Parking Deck, Tarrson Hall and West Drive. During the weekend Nov. 9, Manning Drive will be closed between South Columbia Street and East Drive from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured along Mason Farm Road and East Drive. Pedestrians should remain alert to traffic changes and follow designated pedestrian detours.

Daniel Clarke-Pearson, MD, Robert A. Ross Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, will step down from his position as chair effective July 1, 2019. He will remain on faculty, focusing his attention on caring for women with gynecological cancers, teaching, and mentoring.

UNC Lineberger’s Bhishamjit S. Chera, MD, will present preliminary findings at the 60th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology on Tuesday from a study that evaluated a blood test for HPV-linked oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, which is a cancer of the back of the throat. The findings demonstrated the test could be an effective and less costly alternative for monitoring for cancer recurrence after radiation treatment.
