UNC Hospitals' Cardiology Acute & Intermediate Coronary Care Unit, 3 Anderson/ICCU, has been awarded Gold-level Beacon Award designation by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. 3 Anderson/ICCU joins the ranks of the CTICU, CICU, MPCU, 5BT and SICU at UNC Hospitals as recipients of this prestigious award, and is the first mixed acuity unit in the southeast to achieve this distinction.

He's dedicated himself to addressing poverty and disparity and found medicine to be the way he could make the most impact.

A number of improvements to the referrals process in Epic@UNC will go into effect June 14, 2015. Most notably, the priority status of referrals has been standardized across Epic@UNC, with stat orders requiring a phone call from the “referred from” department within one day and urgent orders requiring a phone call from the “referred from” department within two days.

The UNC Wound Healing & Podiatry Clinic has moved, along with the two Hyperbaric Chambers used for hyperbaric oxygen treatments, to UNC Heart & Vascular at Meadowmont effective Monday, April 6, 2015.

In April 2014, Telecommunications began the process of transitioning landline phone numbers for off-site practices and offices. Work is now underway in the Cancer Hospital. Everything in the Tamborino house is bigger—the meals, the celebrations and, without question, the affection. Parents, Norine and Frank, do everything bigger, because four of their five boisterous children—Julie, 20, Tori, 17, Catherine , 15, and Frankie, 10—have cystic fibrosis, and they know they have to make each moment count. Having been in and out of several health care systems, the close-knit family found a home away from home at UNC. This is the Tamborinos' story.
