The Women’s Irritability, Stress, and Estrogen Study aims to understand the biological mechanisms underlying the relationship between estrogen changes and increased irritability during the menopause transition.
The Women’s Irritability, Stress, and Estrogen (WISE) Study is seeking women 45–55 years of age in the menopause transition who are experiencing mood changes, particularly irritability, associated with the onset of menopause.
Participation for eligible women will entail:
- 1 in-person enrollment session and clinical interview
- 3 in-person laboratory EEG recording sessions
- Mood assessments
- Hormone (urine) samples
- 3 weeks of transdermal estradiol + 3 weeks of placebo patch – the order in which these are administered is randomized
Eligible participants may receive up to $650 in compensation.
