Join Guest Services and Patient Transport for an open house to tour the new Discharge Hospitality Center on April 4, 1 - 3 p.m. and April 5, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Starting Saturday morning, April 6, inpatient nurses and providers will see a new ‘Activity’ order (NUR304001) encompassing multiple prior Activity orders (see at the link). Following this change, when a new Activity order is written, the old/previous Activity order will be discontinued to ensure there is only one active order at a time.

Located off the N.C. Cancer Hospital lobby next to the outpatient pharmacy, the Discharge Hospitality Center (DHC) will serve as a dedicated space for discharged patients waiting on transportation home.

Due to the repair and repaving of the bus loop at the Friday Center park and ride lot, Chapel Hill Transit will detour the FCX route beginning Monday, March 18.

You can now visit the Epic@UNC Playground to preview new features coming April 6 with the Epic@UNC Upgrade. We recommend that everyone spend approximately two hours in March in the Playground, attending a WebEx, or reviewing training materials to ensure you’re prepared for the April 6 upgrade.

The UNC Center for Health Innovation is pleased to announce the winners of the seventh annual Innovation Pilot Awards. The Center sought proposals from employees for innovations across a spectrum of areas including care delivery, new technology, advanced analytics, and more!

On April 1, UNC Medical Center will implement a new Professional Business Attire policy. The policy is designed to create standards for professional appearance in order to foster a positive working environment, promote workplace safety, and inspire confidence in quality care service delivery. This policy applies to all personnel performing services for/at UNC Medical Center, including volunteers, research personnel, students, staff, and providers at all levels.

This year's focus will be on how we can promote ourselves and the skills we have to serve our customers, and there will be recognition for those who have been with the organization for 30 years. This is the 30th anniversary of Learning & Organizational Development promoting the APC.

Later this year, a customized, mobile wayfinding app will be available to help patients, visitors and staff find their way from one end of the hospital to the other at UNC Medical Center and UNC REX Healthcare. We are partnering with a company named Gozio Health to launch this app. To have the most accurate information possible, starting March 11, Gozio Health’s staff will do a walkthrough of the hospitals.

Steve Finch MHA, RN, has accepted the position of Vice President of Operations effective March 25. Steve is currently the Regional Director of Clinical Laboratory Services for UNC Health Care and the Administrative Director of Diagnostic Services at UNC REX.

Ambulatory Referrals to Home Health and Cardiac Rehab will require a physician to be entered as the Authorizing Provider. Questions on those orders and the Referral to Hospice have been updated also.

The New CVAD Liaison team is available to assist with central line insertions, CLABSI prevention education, and patient rounding.
