Gary Beck Dallaghan, PhD, has joined the UNC School of Medicine’s Office of Medical Education as the Director of Educational Scholarship. Beck Dallaghan comes to Chapel Hill from the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he served as Assistant Dean for Medical Education.

Sebastian Gonzalez and his family traveled from Costa Rica to North Carolina for one reason: to be treated by Andrea Hayes-Jordan, MD. Hayes-Jordan serves as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the UNC School of Medicine, and Surgeon in Chief at the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. She's also one of the few physicians in the world to specialize in the treatment of Desmoplastic small round cell tumor, Sebastian’s rare form of cancer.

Jean Cates, RN, has been a nurse for more years than N.C. Memorial Hospital has been standing and has been providing care at UNC Hospitals for more than five decades of that time. She has devoted her life to caring for people. For those of us who work at the hospital, Jean was a familiar face in Occupational Health Services (OHS) where she has worked for the past few decades as a temporary RN. Jean retired (for the second time) at the end of June 2018.
