Earlier this year, the School of Medicine Constitution and Bylaws underwent formal review, and the revisions were voted on in early August. The revised constitution and bylaws received the required two-thirds affirmative votes, and have been passed.

Neeta L. Vora, MD, Associate Professor and Director of Reproductive Genetics in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, has been awarded $3.4 million for a Research Project Grant (R01) from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) toward studying the identification of genes critical to human brain development with validation in a zebrafish model.

TraCS Team Science is seeking to assist UNC researchers with the formation and development of multidisciplinary research teams focused on tackling challenging problems in clinical or translational medicine through the new ACTeR Program. Support is provided through a combination of competitively reviewed graduated direct funding and logistical support awarded in two phases. Phase 1 applications are due by 5 p.m. ET on September 7, 2021.

Nailah Adams-Morancie, MD, MS, CAQSM, Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship based at UNC Family Medicine, represented sports medicine and family medicine as official team physician for Trinidad and Tobago at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. While she was there, Adams was kind enough to take part in a quick question & answer session.

Harold C. Pillsbury, III, MD, FACS, and William W. Shockley, MD, FACS, were integral members of the UNC Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, serving as the Chair and Founding Vice Chair of our department, respectively.
