New Observation Unit opens June 19 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill
On Monday, June 19, the new 1 Memorial Observation Unit will open 15 of its 25 beds in the former 1st floor OT/PT space at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. The remaining beds will be opened before the end of 2017.

Parking and Photo ID Office Closed for Meeting
The Hospital Parking & Photo ID Office will be closed on Tuesday June 13, from noon – 2 p.m. for its monthly departmental meeting.

New version of General Consent for Treatment
Effective May 18, 2017, a new version of the General Consent for Treatment (GCT) for all UNC Health Care system entities and affiliates will replace all previous versions. All hard copies of the previous version should be shredded and replaced with the current version on May 18, 2017.

Doak named UNC Health Care System Vice President, Human Resources
On May 22, Scott Doak, MBA, SPHR, will join UNC Health Care as System Vice President, Human Resources. In this role, Scott will oversee system human resources functions and the implementation of a Human Resources shared services model for UNC Health Care. His office will be located on the Morrisville Campus.

Ivester appointed as UNC Hospitals’ Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs
Thomas Ivester, MD, MPH, Associate Professor in Maternal Fetal Medicine, has been selected as UNC Hospitals’ Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and VP of Medical Affairs (VPMA). Dr. Ivester will begin this appointment on April 24, 2017, and report to Gary Park, President of UNC Hospitals, with a matrix reporting relationship to Dr. Tony Lindsey, UNC Health Care’s Chief Medical Officer.

New IV tubing change practice at UNC Hospitals begins in March
The Nurse Stewardship Task Force along with Nurse Practice Council and Nursing Education will begin rolling out the new IV tubing change practice in the beginning of March 2017.

Wing E & F Construction begins Feb. 16
Starting Thursday, Feb. 16, scaffolding will be erected at Med Wings E and F at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill as part of a project designed to add fall protection to the Wings’ roof.

HR teams move to UNC Health Care’s Morrisville campus beginning Friday, Jan. 27
To help UNC Health Care system shared services teams, like ISD and Human Resources, work more collaboratively in order to better serve our customers, UNC Health Care has leased space in two Morrisville buildings: 1025 Think Place and 5221 Paramount Parkway. Both buildings are located next to each other in the same office park. Human Resources teams will begin moving to the UNC Health Care’s Morrisville campus in January.
