We are excited to announce a partnership between UNC Physicians, the UNC School of Medicine, and UNC Health Care to create a system-wide integrated Well-Being Program. This program, spanning across UNC Health Care’s owned hospitals, Physician Network, and the School of Medicine, will build on the various wellness programs already in place and synergize efforts to focus on the primary drivers of burnout.

If your patient’s Code Status in the patient header is listed as “Prior," please place a new code status order so that an active code order is on the patient’s current encounter. Following Go-Live #6, there is a new code status indicator of “Prior,” which represents that the patient had a previous code order on file that is no longer active for the current encounter.

Pre-charting, which allows ambulatory providers to get a head start on documentation for future visits, is one of the new features of the upgraded Epic@UNC. Providers can ‘pre-chart’ and then, if the patient ‘no-shows’ an appointment, the data is deleted within 30 days.

UNC Health Care is implementing a system-wide ‘No Show and Late Cancellation’ policy in its outpatient clinics and services. Beginning Aug. 15, if a patient misses his/her appointment and does not notify the outpatient clinic/service, the patient will receive a ‘no-show’ letter to remind them of our policy and provide information about cancelling and rescheduling appointments.

Effective July 22 with Go-Live #6, the Quick Abstraction option (under Quick Navigators) and the HM Results Console (in an Abstract Encounter) are being removed from Epic@UNC in order to promote accurate clinical documentation of Health Maintenance procedures and labs done outside of the UNC Health Care System.

On June 27, patients at UNC Health Care locations using Epic@UNC who list a cell phone number as their preferred number will begin receiving appointment reminders via text message. Currently, patients receive an automated phone call to their primary number (landline or mobile) two days prior to a scheduled appointment.
